Short and long bio
Michael Simm is co-founder and Operations Director of SEG Group, an electrical, renewables, IT and Wi-Fi business based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. A time-served electrician and ECS Black Card holder, he has run his own electrical business since 2010 and is an advocate for apprenticeships.
Michael Simm is co-founder and Operations Director of SEG Group, which he formed in June 2024 by merging his electrical business with that of Russell Solts. The group — SEGplc (electrical and renewables), SEG Core (managed IT and security) and SEGwifi (commercial Wi-Fi) — operates from its own office in Chiswell Green, St Albans, fitted with 32 solar panels and EV chargers, and runs a fleet of electric vans. Michael began his career with a four-year electrical apprenticeship at Ardmore Construction, worked in social housing, and founded his own company in 2010, growing it into high-end residential, smart home and social housing work. He introduced photographic audits of every job long before they became standard, and SEG keeps a minimum of three apprentices at all times. He holds the ECS Black Card, AM2, City & Guilds 2391, NVQ Level 3 and City & Guilds Level 2 and 3.
